My appearance on BBC Breakfast this morning was at a different time from predicted and one or two people asked if there was an online copy so here you go.
And no I am not an "Internet Security Advisor" as the caption says. So much for editorial standards!
Nice Steve Jobs suit. Today's kids are more able to spot and blow the whistle on dodgy old geezers than ever before. Always connected means the positive support and brilliance of their own communities are only ever a click/text away.

Go Euan! Nice to see you get the chance to give such a clear and level-headed response. Although I note with interest that not all the questions from the presenters were as moronic as I've seen in the past. Perhaps they're finally getting the message that technology may not work as advertised by the gov't.

Good points well made.
Nice suit.

To be honest Suw the questions sounded just like my comments in a phone call to the researcher last night!

I caught it this mornings - you need to change your Twitter pic. You looked much younger than I thought you were.
I am much fatter than my pic - so it can go either way.

You're too kind. In fact I have been making a concerted effort. I gave up drink six months ago and now walk about 6 to 8 miles a day so nice to know it's been worth it!

Can I have your autograph? :)

Only if I can have yours!

The voice of reason from the man in black. Well done, Euan. The new regime is paying off too, you look great.

Well that was worth getting up for! Nice bit of consultancy work though. Dig the haircut.

Kudos, Euan! Only wish they had let you talk a bit more... :-)

Congratulations ! The regular walking and elimination of the devil spirit look good on you (tho' a life without any drink can wear on a soul every once in a while). There's something about a good Bordeaux or Tempranillo that, I don't know, just hits the spot of an evening.

Euan,
Very persuasive and balanced.
Of course, people who prefer not to communicate with their kids can always just install this:

Back to your old hunting grounds?
Ditched the Steve Jobs look?

Hi Euan,
Nice to see you and your family today for lunch, I managed to find this clip as you mentioned.
Interesting to see the "Government Taskforce Advisor" rapidly disown the proposals for the disclosure of e-mail addresses. I find it really difficult to believe that even Jacqui Smith could present such a flawed proposal, so it leads me to think why?, what else is it they want to achieve by doing this? I guess we much watch this space, for the next knee jerk or in this case twitch!!
Even for the home office, clearly making yourself look like a fool is not a good career move so I'm puzzled.
I’m no genius but surely mandatory disclosure of ISP by the individual followed by a secondary disclosure of IP address range for that individual by the said ISP would all that would be required, as for the main, (proxy software excepted) these stay constant irrespective of E-Mail address used, and is far easier to block from a server point of view as I understand. However I’m with you in the first instance educating and switching on of our kids followed by their parents seems to be the best line of defence and covers a much wider range of issues, such as online bullying on social websites, which I suspect is far more prevalent than so “dodgy old geezer” trying to pass himself off as 11 !!
Now where abouts is my virtual bag of sweeties :->

Spot on, Euan. I thought the ideas the Govt came up with - or at least how they were reported on the morning's radio bulletins sounded like a lot of twaddle.

Who was that muppet beside you? Did you perchance mislead the researcher to book her to make you look suavely intelligent?
It certainly worked!

Top notch, Mr S: the voice of reason!
