I just refreshed my Facebook homepage as the date turned to the 26th and Facebook wished me happy birthday - and I felt a warm glow ....

If you haven't read it already I suggest you read The Media Equation: How People Treat Computers, Television, and New Media Like Real People and Places by Reeves & Nass.
Might help put it in context.
