London Spirit
I am probably the least jingoistic person on the planet but I do feel t it is worth commenting here on the amazing spirit of Londoners.
Maybe is is because we have had years of being bombed by the IRA and who knows, maybe it goes all the way back to the blitz, but the prevailing response to the awful events in London today is one of calm interest and concern for those poor souls involved but not once anything resembling panic.
All of my friends have said they will be back on public transport tomorrow and all have expressed the view that becoming fearful and curtailing our lives is just the response terrorists want.
Glad you're okay Euan - perhaps it just me - perhaps it was the fact I was walking out of Edgeware just before the bomb went off behind me - but I wont be on public transport tomorrow - I'll be no-where near public transport for a while.

I have to agree for two reasons, first it would indeed be playing their deck of cards. They are after fear, let's not give it to them. Second, no use. We can be scared all we want, throw an army of police at this and it will still be possible to strap a bomb on your body and blow something up.

I was amazed at how un-paniced everyone was, considering there was no news and people's minds were working overtime.

Euan, I am also glad you are okay.
This type of spirit and resolve was also apparent here in Washington on 9/11. I am sad about the lives lost. But it makes me feel good to hear how much people work together in situations like these.

Glad you and yours are okay Euan. I'm proud to be a part of the Bombay that went right back to work and life the day after we were bombed. Cheers to the spirit of Londoners!
