Following on from Ben's point that the internet is more than the US and thanks to a prompt from Julian I have upgraded this blog to reflect the new Creative Commons UK licences.

Just as I complain that I haven't seen much for a while all of a sudden a whole load rushes past:
iTunes get podcasting
Google Personalized Search arrives
Google Maps UK get satellite images
Google print stuns me
Yahoo launches Social Search

Google Print is up and running, looks very impressive, and has already introduced me to two facts that blew me away
I did a search for books referring to my home town of Strathaven in Lanarkshire and came up with two real surprises.
Firstly it is mentioned in Chicken Soup For The Cat And Dog Lover's Soul which contains a story about a heroic dog that won the Dicken medal, awarded to animals for bravery, and whose owner lived in Strathaven.
The second was even more unusual and indeed spooky. I, as many of you will know, used to be a professional sax player playing in club bands in the eighties. Little did I suspect that the inventor of a predecessor of the sax lived in Strathaven in the 19th Century!
