... but if each one

... but if each one of saw the truth of this, that the consciousness of the world is mine, and mine is the world's; and if each of us felt the responsibility of that - the politician, the scientist, the engineer, the bureaucrat, the business man - if everybody felt that, what then?

- J. Krishnamurti

Out beyond our ideas of

Out beyond our ideas of
wrongoing and rightdoing
there lies a field.
I'll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
doesn't make any sense.

- Rumi

Organic defects in communication

First and foremost, the Internet is a communications medium. We tend to think of it as a medium for communication between computers, but this is mistaking the forest for banks of trees. The computers communicate only to service the needs of human communication. Flexible communication strategies are the one identifiable trait that separates us from the great apes, the cetaceans, and dogs. This flexible communication capability is the essence of what makes us social beings. Organic defects in communication, such as aphasia or autism, produce an organic sympathy in us, because we understand, from birth, that no man is an island so long as he remains in communication with his fellow men.

A bad news - good news story

Bad news - Doc's plane has crashed

Good news - it was on the runway, was a slight bump with another plane and no one was hurt.

Bad news - he can't go back to the States until tomorrow morning

Good news - having missed him Saturday and Sunday nights I am getting to have dinner with him tonight.
